Letter from Victor
To My Wonderful Grace Family!
I was asked to share a few words with you and I feel honored to do so. I am currently a freshman at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. I have to say that me being able to sit here in my dorm room, typing this to you on my laptop is a blessing in and of itself. 18 years ago, when my parents, Lawrence and Brenda Furtick were surprised with the news that they would be having quadruplets, there were mixed feelings. Excitement,
elation, and astonishment were some of these feelings. However, there was also some uncertainty. Uncertainty in how they would be able to provide financially for Kevin, Jason, Keith, and Victor. Through sacrifice, prayer, and assistance from family and friends, my brothers and I have been able to live blessed lives! Even as a young children, my brothers and I knew the importance of giving back.
Therefore we joined the Children’s Choir, and then moved on to the Youth Choir. We were also avid members of the Youth Ministry where my brother Jason served as Recording Secretary and Kevin served as the Chaplain. Hands down, my favorite part of the Youth Ministry was the Midnight Run! The Midnight Run is when the youth of the Church (with donations from Grace Members) would go out and deliver care package to the homeless and less fortunate. This is such an eye-opening experience to see how other people actually live and I believe that is not a lesson that can be learned in a classroom. I currently am employed at the Center for Student Involvment at Adelphi University where I encourage other students to get involved in the clubs, activities, events, sororities, and fraternities that Adelphi University has to offer. My major is undecided at the moment but I believe that as soon as next year, I will be declaring myself a Business Major.
Though I am busy on campus, I deeply miss my family. Though the food here is good, it just doesn’t compare to my mother’s delicious home cooked meals. Therefore, on certain weekends, I will run home and enjoy the foods that I miss so much! I also miss my brothers who are my best friends.
As I close, I must thank my Grace family for all of the support and love that you have shown to my family and I since the doors of Grace Baptist Church opened to us years ago. Our Grace family has kept us on the right track and never allowed us to stray from the path that God has set for us. I look forward to returning soon and seeing all of you again, while inspiring the current children and youth that are in our places now. May God and keep each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Victor Furtick
